If you like coffee, alcohol, and sweets, then man nothing beats making your own Kahlua with this best Kahlua coffee recipe. It’s simple and easy. The best part is no preservatives, no chemicals, no hangover (I made that last part up). The key is starting with great coffee.
Industrial Kahlua Gags

First of all, most Kahlua uses industrial burnt and bitter instant coffee that went stale long ago. Instant coffee! Really? Not to mention the nasty chemicals used to make instant coffee. Additionally, they use imitation vanilla. Gag me with a big deep spoon.
So, how much better do you think Kahlua would be if you used fresh roasted coffee, a fresh real vanilla bean, and top shelf vodka? Huh? I’m talking your language now aren’t I?
BUT proof is in the pudding, as the saying goes. Is my Kahlua better than the commercial stuff. ABSOLUTELY! This Kahlua is so much better that you’ll never go back to the store bought stuff.
Best Kahlua Coffee Recipe

- 3 Cups Very Strong Lake City Coffee
- 4 Cups Sugar
- 4 Cups Graygoose Vodka (Top Shelf)
- 1 Vanilla Bean (See notes below)
- Shake Daily
- Let Stand 1 Month
Vanilla beans are getting hard to find and are expensive. For the freshest and best vanilla beans, I highly recommend The Spice House website. We buy all of our spices from them. Not only are the spices fresher, a lot fresher, than they are in the store, but if you buy spices by the bag, instead of the bottle, they’re a lot cheaper than in the store.
My Favorite Black Russian
Now what to do with it. My favorite is a White Russian. Use only about 1 Tablespoon of Kahlua and add it to 2 ounces of top shelf vodka, like Graygoose.
